Surfboard shaper Jon Pyzel grew up in Santa Barbara, California, where he developed a deep passion for surfing. He was introduced to board shaping by local shaper Matt Moore, who mentored him in design principles. In 1992, Jon moved to Oahu’s North Shore, working at Country Surfboards before training under master shaper Jeff Bushman. His career took off in 1997 when he shaped a board for a young John John Florence, now a two-time world champion. Today, Jon runs Pyzel Surfboards, shaping boards globally while maintaining a family-run business rooted in craftsmanship and surf culture.
